SYNTEC Geogrids

Syntec SBX11 & SBX12 are integrally formed, polypropylene, Single Layer Bi-Axial Geogrid with a load transfer mechanism of positive mechanical interlock. Syntec SBX11 & SBX 12 is designed for base reinforcement and sub-grade improvement. Syntec SBX biaxial geogrids offer improved roadway solutions based on time tested design principles. Through confinement, SBX biaxial geogrids add strength and stability to the soil layers via confinement of the soil particles. Whether paved or unpaved, SBX biaxial geogrids provide two unique yet related functions of Soil Stabilization and Base Reinforcement. Our SYNTEC SBX11 & SBX12 Geogrids are an affordable alternative and a functionally equivalent equal to the Tensar BX1100 & BX1200.

SOIL STABILIZATION

When faced with soft soils, SBX geogrids offer superior solutions to deep undercutting or chemical stabilization to greatly reduce the overall cost of construction.

Compared to deep undercuts, sbx geogrids:

1. Reduce fill or aggregate thickness
2. Reduced hauling, equipment hours and emissions
3. Reduce construction time

Compared to chemicals stabilization, spx geogrids:

1. Require no specialized equipment or crews
2. Are not sensitive to weather conditions or soil chemistry
3. Require no cure time and provides permanent stabilization

BASE REINFORCEMENT:

When constructing roadways over a relatively firm subgrade SBX biaxial geogrids provide a predictable and reliable level of performance to enhance pavement life; and or reduce required aggregate and or pavement thickness. The high tensile strength and junction efficiency of Syntec SBX biaxial geogrids confine and restrain aggregate from lateral movement. This distributes the applied load over the subgrade to a larger area resulting in a thinner pavement cross section, a longer service life or a combination of both.

WHEN USED TO REINFORCE BASE COURSE MATERIALS, SBX BIAXIAL GEOGRIDS:

1. REDUCE COST BY:
    a. Reduced aggregate thickness
    b. Reduced pavement thickness
    c. Reduced undercut
2. EXTENDED PAVEMENT SERVICE LIFE BY:
    a. Broader distribution of applied load to sub-grade
    b. Minimize rutting

Common Applications:

  1. Paved highways and secondary roads

  2. Parking areas for commercial and industrial facilities

  3. Airport runways and taxiways

  4. Truck freight distribution centers and terminals

  5. Heavily loaded equipment yards at port, rail, intermodal, and industrial facilities

  6. Haul road
